A limited edition cassette commissioned by Other Parties to accompany our reissue of Bill Gunn’s Personal Problems (1980).
We asked Screwboss, aka Marcy Mane, to create a mixtape in response to Gunn’s underground masterpiece - a film built around everyday encounters, relationships, memory and the poetry of ordinary life.
Marcy Mane is an artist, producer and DJ from Washington, D.C. Working through the aliases Marcy Mane and Screwboss, his music moves between cloud rap, experimental hip-hop and left-field selections. A key figure within the Goth Money orbit, his work is rooted in atmosphere, texture and a distinct sense of curation.
For Other Parties, he brings this sensibility to Personal Problems, creating a mixtape that sits between memory, everyday life and the strange beauty of human connection.
